Choose the Right Material

When selecting outdoor wicker furniture, look for pieces made from synthetic or resin wicker. These materials are more resistant to moisture, sun exposure, and weather damage than natural wicker.

Store It Properly

If possible, store wicker furniture indoors during extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain or snow. If indoor storage isn't an option, cover the furniture with a tarp or furniture cover to protect it from the elements.

Clean Regularly

Regular cleaning is crucial to prevent dirt buildup and damage from the elements. Use a soft-bristled brush or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment to remove dust and debris from the furniture. For deeper cleaning, use a mild soap and water solution or a vinegar and water solution as mentioned in the previous article.

Protect from Sun Damage

Sun exposure can cause wicker furniture to fade and weaken over time. To prevent sun damage, place the furniture in a shaded area or use a furniture cover when not in use. You can also apply a UV-resistant finish to protect the furniture from sun damage

Treat for Mildew

Mildew and mold can grow on wicker furniture if it's left outside in humid or damp conditions. To treat mildew, mix equal parts water and white vinegar in a spray bottle and spray the affected area. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes, then rinse with clean water and allow the furniture to air dry.
